01 The brief

Bulkbag Containers is a UK manufacturer of bulk bags (FIBCs), sacks and other heavy industrial sewn products, with a factory in Dundee and origins dating back to 1984. Its range runs from builders merchant bags and filled sand bags to subsea, offshore and UN certified products.

02 What I did

I built the site at KIN, the studio I co-directed, where I was the developer. It is a custom WordPress theme on WooCommerce, so Bulkbag can sell its standard range online as well as take enquiries for bespoke work.

Online shop. WooCommerce with product categories for each type of bag, customer accounts and a basket, so trade customers can order stock bags directly.

Custom bags. A custom bag product so customers can build and buy their own bag specification online, alongside a route to contact the team for fully bespoke solutions.

Showing the manufacturing. Factory and videos pages that show how the bags are made, and a homepage slider (FlexSlider) with the key selling points: UK made, fast delivery and the widest range.

Built for the trade. Phone number, email and basket always to hand in the header, on desktop and mobile.

03 The result

The site gives Bulkbag a direct online sales channel for its standard range while still showcasing its bespoke and industrial capabilities.

“Chris took our complicated product range and turned it into an online shop where our customers can build and buy their own specifications. Being able to sell bespoke bag specifications online has introduced us to a new customer base and singles us out from our competition. He understood our business quickly, explained things clearly and we'd happily recommend him.”
