01 The brief

Fonic has done audio post-production since 2004, from a studio at Hackney City Farm. They do sound for animation, commercials, TV, film and audiobooks, including the Foley for Audible's Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions. They wanted a site that put their projects and showreels up front and that the team could update themselves.

02 What I did

I built the theme from the supplied designs using PHP, SCSS and jQuery.

The homepage opens with Fonic's animated ident playing full-screen as a background video. Browsers block autoplaying video with sound, so it starts muted, and a "Click to listen" toggle turns the audio on.

Project pages have full-width header images. The homepage has a carousel of recent news and projects built with Flickity. The Showreels section uses Plyr for video playback.

Projects and press releases are custom post types, news uses standard posts, and showreels and downloads have their own sections. The team publishes all of it without a developer.
